What does the status “Potential No-Show” mean?

TurnUp helps you predict which appointments are at risk of becoming a no-show. This status is not random—it is generated through an intelligent analysis that assesses the likelihood of patient attendance.

📊 How TurnUp classifies appointments

TurnUp makes a distinction between two types of appointments:

  • High-risk appointment = More than 50% chance of becoming a no-show

  • Low-risk appointment = 50% or less chance of becoming a no-show

All appointments marked as potential no-show are visible in the No-Show module.

🧠 How is this status determined?

The Potential No-Show status is calculated using an advanced AI model that combines historical data with real-time context.

1. Historical patient data

  • Appointment history from scheduling and patient management software (e.g. DentAdmin, CareConnect, etc.)

  • Previous no-shows or late cancellations

  • Confirmation behaviour in past appointments

2. Real-time contextual factors (22+ data points)

  • Appointment time

  • Day of the week

  • Type of treatment

  • Practice location & distance

  • Current traffic conditions

  • Weather conditions (rain, heat, snow)

  • And many more...

This combined analysis results in a probability score. This score indicates how likely it is that a patient will not attend the appointment and allows TurnUp to automatically assign the correct risk level and apply the appropriate follow-up.

🎯 Purpose of this status

The Potential No-Show status helps practices to:

  • Predict which patients are less likely to attend

  • Identify and highlight high-risk appointments
