What does the status “Potential No-Show” mean?
When a patient doesn’t respond to reminders, the appointment is given the status “Potential No-Show.” This label isn’t random — it’s the result of an intelligent analysis that predicts whether a patient is likely to attend or not.
How is this status determined?
The “Potential No-Show” status is calculated based on an advanced AI model that uses:
1. Historical patient data
-
Appointment history from scheduling and patient management software (e.g. DentAdmin, CareConnect, etc.)
-
Previous no-shows or late cancellations
-
Confirmation behaviour in past appointments
2. Real-time contextual factors (22+ data points)
-
Appointment time
-
Day of the week
-
Type of treatment
-
Practice location & distance
-
Current traffic conditions
-
Weather conditions (rain, heat, snow)
-
And much more...
This combined analysis produces a probability score. If there’s no confirmation and a higher risk detected, the “Potential No-Show” status is automatically assigned.
Purpose of this status
-
Predict which patients are unlikely to attend
-
Warn about high-risk appointments
-
Trigger manual follow-up by the practice
This status works hand-in-hand with the reminder communication: if a patient hasn’t confirmed their appointment, the no-show risk remains, regardless of the AI model.
What happens in practice?
-
The status is visible in the appointment overview.
-
No further automated notifications are sent (see Article 1).
-
The practice can follow up manually (see Article 3).
What are the benefits for your practice?
-
Fewer surprises in your schedule
-
Early warning of potential issues
-
Better follow-up = fewer no-shows
TurnUp doesn’t just remind — it also predicts no-shows to help improve your daily operations.
